Reckless driver causes crash after running red light in Glenside, injures teen pedestrian, two are arrested

The Abington Township Police Department announced this evening that an accident occurred at the intersection of Jenkintown Road and Abington Avenue Glenside on Friday, October 11th at 3:47 p.m.

According to police, a vehicle with two male occupants was driving recklessly at a high speed when it failed to stop for the red light at the intersection. The car then crashed into a vehicle driving through the intersection.

The first vehicle then crashed onto the sidewalk, striking a 13-year-old pedestrian who had been talking to a border guard who was walking her across the street.

Both men then attempted to flee the scene on foot and were quickly apprehended and arrested by officers, police said.

Police said the driver, Jason MacDonald, 21, of Philadelphia, is charged with numerous offenses related to aggravated assault, reckless driving and fleeing an accident.

The passenger, Goldwin Prince, 21, of Philadelphia, was illegally armed with a handgun when arrested and faces charges of firearms violations and possession of marijuana.

The 13-year-old pedestrian was transported by ambulance to Abington Jefferson Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident and the crimes are still the subject of ongoing investigations, the police said.
