Where to Find Entertainment at the SC State Fair

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) – Aside from the food and rides, there’s more to the South Carolina State Fair than meets the eye.

This year’s entertainment program includes daily shows at the Circus within the fair and live music at the Pepsi Place and Academic Avenue stages.

Here you can find more information about the entertainment on offer at the trade fair and what to expect:

Circus at the fair

Located next to the Ellison Building near the South Gate entrance, it includes three 40-minute free shows daily. Shows start at 2:00 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. These are some of the acts you will see during the shows:

    • Wheel of Destiny (Acrobatics)
    • The Remarkable Renaldo and Little Lou (Clowns)
    • Nilson Escobar (juggling)
    • Aidan Bryant (aerial performer)
    • Brian Miser (Human Cannonball)
    • Abril Amore (aerial performer)

Pepsi Place stage

The following performances will take place on the Pepsi Place Stage:

    • The TAMS, October 9th at 7 p.m
    • Best of all, a tribute to Tom Petty, October 10 at 7 p.m
    • DraculaSneak Peek presented by South Carolina Ballet, October 11 at 7 p.m
    • Cloverdayle, October 12th at 7pm
    • Columbia’s Praise SC State Fair Unity Fest presented by Columbia’s Praise 95.7 FM, October 13 at 4 p.m
    • Armed Services Veterans Band, Oct. 14 at 12 p.m
    • Britishmania, Beatles Tribute Band, October 14th at 7pm
    • Jason Sikes Tribute to Elvis, October 15 at 7 p.m
    • ABBAMANIA – Abba Tribute, October 16th at 7 p.m
    • Tokyo Joe, October 17th at 7 p.m
    • Eloveation, October 18th at 7 p.m
    • Marcel Portilla Band, October 19th at 7 p.m
    • Melvin Crispell III for WFMV Glory Night at the SC State Fair, October 20 at 4 p.m

Main Street Entertainment

Palmetto State singer Carl Brunson will perform a mix of pop, vaudeville, Motown, blues and more.

Academic Avenue Stage

In this phase, you will come across music shows, comedian hypnosis and other shows. Some include:

    • Dennis Lee Band
    • Jess Kelly Adams
    • Ron Diamond
    • Renata the band

Netterfield Stage

The following people will appear in this phase.

    • Michael Mango (October 9-13)
    • J. Scott Thompson (Oct. 14-20)

Wandering acts

Acts include performances by:

    • Carrie McQueen (stilt walker)
    • Marc Dobson (one-man band)
    • The amazing Aydar (unicyclist)
    • The Ice Cream Comedy Show (Comedian)
    • Denny the Clown (Clown)
    • Stilt fun with Mike Weakley (stilt walker)

Heritage Village

Here, fairgoers can see reconstructed historic buildings, traditional crafts and demonstrations depicting the daily life of early settlers. This year’s exhibition features two newcomers to the region: “Albert A. Rasch: Veteran, Craftsman and Primitive Skills Expert,” with an emphasis on historical reenactments and metalworking, and “Experience Traditional Woodworking with Kaleo Simmons.”
