According to police, a hammer attack occurred at a tattoo shop in Melrose in August

News 12 received new information from police about an August hammer attack and robbery in Melrose. Police say it happened at a tattoo shop on Third Avenue.

Police are still trying to catch the six women behind it. The women beat a 41-year-old woman, then hit her in the face with a hammer and robbed her on August 17.

They also hit a 29-year-old man in the arm with the hammer and punched him in the face, police said. The tattoo shop owner said he was helping police with the investigation.

A News 12 resident who spoke off-camera said she wasn’t shocked.

“I find it sad and very disgusting that people behave like this.”

According to police, the woman was taken to the hospital in stable condition after the attack.
