11 family members were tragically killed by Hurricane Helene

A family is struggling with unimaginable loss as a result of Hurricane Helene.

In Fairview, North Carolina, on September 27, 11 members died in a landslide triggered “without warning by unprecedented rainfall” from the intense storm Jesse Craig‘s family, according to a GoFundMe titled “Support the Craig family after a tragic loss.”

“My mom and dad, my aunt and uncle, my great aunt and uncle,” Jesse told the local news outlet ABC11. “I lost cousins, second cousins ​​and things like that, but a total of eleven people to this landslide.”

In addition to the devastating losses, the town of Fairview – affectionately known as “Craigtown” due to the family’s influence on the community over eight decades – experienced severe destruction.

“It’s unrecognizable now,” Jesse continued, “but this is where I was born and raised.”

Jesse’s wife IKenzie Craig is similarly affected by Hurricane Helene, which has killed at least 223 people per year NBC News.
