Man Utd dressing room at PL club bugged with Ten Hag’s team conversations recorded due to security issues – report

According to the Sun, Manchester United’s dressing room was bugged ahead of their Premier League away game at Aston Villa last Sunday.

On the Friday before the Red Devils’ visit, a prankster tricked Villa Park staff into sneaking in and planting a hidden device, recording manager Erik ten Hag’s team conversations.

The prankster happens to be a Man United fan and used a Chinese phone with a setting that allows a microphone to be activated by calling from another device to record the Dutchman’s instructions to the team and individual players.

He picked up the phone on Monday and although the Sun has heard the recording, it has decided not to publish the details.

It is a major security breach that concerns Villa and other Premier League clubs will be on guard and wary of similar situations in the future.

The Chinese-made device was taped out of sight in Man United’s dressing room at Villa Park and was called upon when Ten Hag arrived with his team, with his pre-match conversations recorded.

The footage is likely to be uploaded to social media soon as the prankster is desperate to make money or prove a point.

The game ended 0-0 and the Man United manager was under a lot of pressure after a miserable start to the 2024/25 season, which saw just three wins in 11 games in all competitions.
