THP trooper injured in shooting being escorted home after rehab

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Adam Cothron is coming home after recovering at a rehabilitation facility in Atlanta, Georgia from being shot in mid-July.

The Trousdale County Sheriff’s Department announced Trooper Cothron is being escorted home Friday night.

The escort is set to enter the county at Highway 141 South at Lebanon Pike, turning left onto River Road and proceeding to River Street. It will then turn right onto East Main Street, merge onto McMurry Boulevard East, and finally turn left onto Melrose Drive.

“Friends, family, and neighbors who would like to come out and welcome him home are encouraged to do so. The escort is expected to arrive between approximately 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Any updates or a more precise arrival time will be posted as it becomes available,” the sheriff’s department said.

Cothron had been at the facility since July 28, nine days after he was shot. The shooting occurred during a traffic stop in Cookeville on Interstate 40 East near the Willow Avenue Exit on July 19.

Timothy Davis Jr. and Braze Rucker were arrested in connection with the shooting.

Davis Jr. is charged with attempted first-degree murder, and Rucker faces a charge of facilitation of attempted first-degree murder.
