Sheriff identifies Kansas woman who died in pedestrian accident

SEDGWICK COUNTY – Authorities investigating a fatal pedestrian accident have identified the victim as 34-year-old Marjorielle Evens of Wichita, according to Lt. Sedgwick County Sheriff Nathan Gibbs.

Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a vehicle-pedestrian accident in the 4900 block of South Meridian on October 10, 2024 at approximately 7:26 p.m.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m. According to Gibbs, a 2017 Hyundai Accent driven by Shilo D. McMurphy of Wichita was traveling northbound in the 4900 block of South Meridian on Thursday. The vehicle struck Evans, who was crossing the road on foot. According to Gibbs, McMurphy hasn’t seen Evans. There was no evidence of poisoning for either party.

EMS said Evans died at the scene. McMurphy was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
