Yung Filly is accused of sexual assault in Australia

A British YouTuber and rapper named Yung Filly has been accused of raping and choking a woman in a hotel room after an Australian music performance.

The 29-year-old, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, was released on bail when he appeared in a court in Perth, the west coast city where police allege, on several charges on Thursday (October 10). , his crimes were committed on September 28th.

His bail conditions include remaining in the state of Western Australia, not contacting his alleged victim and not posting about the case on social media.

He was ordered to surrender his passport and report to the police daily. His bond was set at 100,000 Australian dollars ($67,400).

Prosecutors had opposed his release on bail because of the risk he would flee the state.

His attorney, Seamus Rafferty, did not immediately respond to a request for comment Friday.

Barrientos is currently traveling around Australia and was arrested on Tuesday in the east coast city of Brisbane, a police statement said. The Colombia-born entertainer, who has 1.8 million followers on YouTube, was extradited back to Perth on Wednesday.

His Australian tour began in Perth and traveled to Melbourne and Sydney before ending in Brisbane.

Police allege he attacked a woman in her 20s in a hotel room after performing at a Perth nightclub.

His show at the Bar1 nightclub was promoted by ticket sales platform MoshTix as a “seamless blend of spontaneity, humor and music that will have you talking for weeks!”

He is charged with four counts of rape, three counts of assault and one count of obstructing the woman’s breathing or circulation by putting pressure on her neck, police said.

Barrientos started his YouTube career in 2013 and his music career in 2017. He also hosted or appeared on several television programs.

He won a 2021 MOBO Award, an annual British music awards ceremony honoring achievements in music of black origin, in the Best Media Personality category.
