Man charged with manslaughter in fatal high-speed crash in Layhill

A Virginia man has been charged with manslaughter after a two-car crash in the Layhill area killed a woman in March.

According to the Montgomery County Police Department, Vincent Anderson, Jr., 36, of Lynchburg was charged with involuntary manslaughter and failure to control speed to avoid a collision.

Anderson was charged in September and accepted a plea deal last week. According to police, sentencing is scheduled for December 9th.

77-year-old Maria Antonieta Perdomo of Silver Spring died in the crash. According to police, she was driving a Subaru Outback and turned left from northbound Layhill Road onto westbound Bel Pre Road. Anderson, driving a Tesla Model Y, was traveling south on Layhill Road and collided with Perdomo at the intersection.

According to police, Anderson was traveling at 77 miles per hour when he collided with Perdomo. Perdomo was pronounced dead at the scene.
