Man convicted of murder for violently stabbing New Jersey woman to death

Authorities in Bergen County announced the conviction of Patrick J. Camilli, 59, of Washington Township, in connection with the October 23, 2021 murder of Mary E. Huber.

Officials stated that at approximately 12:05 a.m. on Sunday, October 24, 2021, the Washington Township Police Department received a 911 call about an incident at 41 Lexington Court in Washington Township.

Officers responded and located Patrick J. Camilli on the floor of the residence, county officials said.

Bergen County authorities said he was lying on top of 51-year-old Mary E. Huber and that there was a knife nearby.

Ms. Huber, who suffered multiple stab wounds and bruises, was taken to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, where she was pronounced dead, Washington Township Police said.

Patrick J. Camilli was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment of self-inflicted stab wounds and was subsequently arrested by investigators from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Washington Township Police Department for the murder of Mary E. Huber, officials say.

According to Bergen County officials, an autopsy conducted by the Bergen County Coroner’s Office revealed that the victim suffered at least 29 sharp force injuries and 20 blunt force injuries.AdvertisementAccording to authorities, a jury on Oct. 7 convicted Patrick J. Camilli of murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

The sentencing range in this matter is 30 years to life in prison in New Jersey State Prison, of which the defendant must serve 30 years before being eligible for parole, county officials said.
