Maine State Police say they are working with the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office to investigate an incident that occurred just before 3 a.m. Friday in the town of Palmyra.

State police denied very few details about the incident other than that it occurred on Madawaska Road.

They said the road was closed to traffic and people were asked to avoid the area. There is currently no time frame for how long the road will remain closed.

“A There is no known danger to the public this time,” a state police spokeswoman said in an email.

Further details are expected to be released as they become available.

Palmyra, a city of just under 2,000 residents, is located about 30 miles outside Bangor in the central part of the state.
