Nobuyo Oyama, the voice actress of the popular Japanese anime Doraemon, has died at the age of 90. According to her agency, she died of natural causes and her funeral was private with her family. She was the voice of Doraemon for over 25 years and the show was also popular in other Asian countries, including India. All about Nobuyo Oyama’s life:

Nobuyo Oyama was born in Tokyo in 1933 and began her career as a voice actress in 1965. She lent her voice to the anime series “Hustle Punch” and soon became very popular. She started as a voice actress for Doraemon in 1979 and remained until 2005.

In 2015, her husband Keisuke Sagawa revealed that she had dementia, which put the brakes on her career. For those uninitiated, Keisuke was also a popular television personality and appeared in several shows. After his death in 2017, Oyama’s manager began caring for her at the retirement home. Although she suffered from dementia, she was in good health.

“Doraemon” is a popular Japanese animated series based on the manga of the same name. The anime was first created in 1973 by Fujiko F. Fujio for a few episodes and was later renewed by Shin-Ei Animations with a new voice actor for Doraemon. Oyama joined the show in 1979 and it gained enormous popularity. The series ran until 2005 and was also made into a film with innovative futuristic concepts.
