A St. Catharines resident is charged with second-degree murder

On Thursday, October 10, 2024, at approximately 9:55 p.m., uniformed officers from Niagara Regional Police Service District 1 (St. Catharines/Thorold) responded to the area of ​​Niagara Street and Church Street in the City of St. Catharines in reference to a stabbing to commit.

Uniformed officers and Niagara Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and found a man with life-threatening injuries.

He was taken to an out-of-region hospital where he was tragically pronounced deceased.

A suspect was quickly identified and arrested by uniformed officers.

52-year-old Stephen Dunk of St. Catharines is charged with second-degree murder.

Dunk is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing on Friday, October 11, 2024 at the Robert SK Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines.
