Tragic discovery: Body of missing woman found in St. Cleer

A search for a missing 79-year-old woman in St Cleer came to a heartbreaking end on Thursday, October 10, after a body was found in the area. The discovery follows an extensive search operation that began after Anne Stacey was reported missing on Thursday, October 3rd.

Ongoing inquiries

Devon and Cornwall Police are currently treating the death as unexplained and inquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Formal identification is still pending, but Anne’s family has been informed of the discovery. Police have not yet released any further details as they continue their investigation.

Search efforts

Several organizations were involved in the search for Anne, who had not been seen since September 27th. The East Cornwall Search & Rescue Team was called in to assist with further searches. In a statement posted on Facebook, the team said it was deeply saddened by the discovery made today as the search began.

“We have been really impressed by the support of the local community who have gone above and beyond to help. We are also grateful for the support we have received from neighboring teams and our search dog teams. Our thoughts are with the family and friends at this very difficult time,” the rescue team wrote.
