Teen arrested after non-fatal knife attack near White Plains school bus stop

WHITE PLAINS, Md. – Two teenagers have been charged in connection with an Oct. 9 stabbing in White Plains. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident in the 11200 block of St. Christopher Drive at 2:35 p.m. after receiving a report of a stabbing involving teenagers.

According to a preliminary investigation, three teenagers were walking home after being dropped off by a school bus when they were approached by a group of other teenagers. The second group had been waiting nearby and appeared intent on starting a physical altercation. A fight broke out between the two groups, during which one of the youths was stabbed in the back with a pocket knife.

The victim, whose injuries were later determined to be non-life-threatening, was flown to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities did not provide further information about the victim’s condition, but confirmed that the injuries were not critical.

Following the incident, two teenagers were charged in connection with the stabbing. A 14-year-old was charged with first-degree assault and a 16-year-old was charged with second-degree assault. Both were charged with juvenile delinquencies under Maryland law and released to their parents after processing. Juvenile crimes usually mean that the identity of the perpetrators is not made public.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges are possible as police continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about the case to come forward. Anyone with more information can contact PFC Ondrish at 301-609-3282, ext. 0636.

The incident highlights growing concerns about youth violence in the region. The local community is seeing an increase in similar incidents involving young people and authorities are urging parents and guardians to remain involved in their children’s activities and social circles.

Schools in the region also face the challenge of dealing with these disputes, which sometimes spill over from the school grounds into the neighborhood. Local authorities have called for increased security measures and more proactive efforts to defuse tensions before they escalate into violence.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office has said it will continue to work with school officials to ensure the safety of students both on and off school grounds. Community members are encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious behavior to law enforcement.

While the investigation continues, the incident sparked discussions among parents and community leaders about how to prevent youth violence and provide more support to teenagers in resolving conflicts without resorting to violence.
