Man stabbed near Canterbury Cathedral

A man was stabbed to death in the historic city center near Canterbury Cathedral.

Four people have been arrested after a man was found with fatal knife wounds on Canterbury High Street at 11.30pm on Thursday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A statement from Canterbury Cathedral published on

“Our prayers go out to the victim, his family and friends and all emergency services involved.

“Knife crime affects us all. It will take all of us to address the problem.”

The four were arrested in connection with the killing and remain in custody pending an ongoing investigation.

A cordon has been set up on part of Canterbury High Street and officers remain in the area to investigate.

Founded in 597 AD, Canterbury Cathedral is home to the Church of England’s most senior archbishop.
