Child dies after being pulled from Pompano Beach pool

POMPANO BEACH, Fla — A child has died after being pulled from a pool at a Pompano Beach home Thursday.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, officers and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to the 1600 block of Northeast First Avenue shortly after noon after receiving a call about a possible drowning.

“Please, the baby fell in the pool – we found him,” a loved one can be heard saying to a 911 dispatcher in an audio recording obtained by Local 10 News on Friday.

“How long was she in the pool?” the dispatcher asked.

“We don’t know,” the caller said.

Authorities said the child was found in the pool and pulled from the water.

First responders immediately began life-saving measures before paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital.

The girl was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene Units are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning.

The victim’s age and identity were not immediately released.
