Acting president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) KT Rama Rao (KTR) has initiated legal action against Telangana Minister Konda Surekha by filing a criminal defamation complaint in the Nampally court. This move follows Surekha’s recent statements which KTR said were baseless, malicious and aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

In a press release from the KTR office, it was revealed that he had earlier issued a legal notice to Surekha demanding a public apology for her defamatory statements. However, she did not retract her comments, prompting KTR to escalate the matter to court. KTR emphasized that such comments not only cause personal harm but also jeopardize his public image.

KTR stressed that this is not the first time that Surekha has made defamatory statements and recalled that she was previously reprimanded by the Election Commission for similar behavior. He argued that her repeated actions constituted a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation through a pattern of malicious behavior.

According to KTR’s press release, his defamation case against Surekha highlights a broader, orchestrated attempt to undermine his reputation. He stated that her comments were made with intent and malice and aimed at damaging both his personal and professional reputation. “These are not mere political jibes but calculated attempts to tarnish my image,” KTR remarked.

The controversy was sparked when Konda Surekha linked actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s divorce to KTR. She accused him of wiretapping and blackmailing the actresses, claiming he manipulated them into addiction. “It is KT Rama Rao who is to blame for Samantha’s divorce… He was a minister then and used to tap the actresses’ phones,” Surekha claimed.
