  • East Quogue man charged with first-degree murder in alleged torture killing

Suffolk County, NY — Jeremy Allen, 43, of East Quogue, has been charged with first-degree murder and related offenses for allegedly torturing and killing his former friend Christopher Hahn, 43. The charges were announced Thursday by Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney.

According to the investigation, the incident occurred on September 27, 2024, after Allen and Hahn, who had known each other since high school, spent the evening at a bar and later went to Allen’s residence on Oakville Avenue. Surveillance footage allegedly captured Allen brutally beating Hahn for 18 minutes shortly after midnight, followed by footage showing Hahn being dragged to the back deck, where he was left semi-conscious.

Allen later allegedly hit Hahn several times with a baseball bat before placing a plastic bag over Hahn’s head and watching him struggle to breathe for about eight minutes. Surveillance video also allegedly showed Allen stabbing Hahn in the neck 10 times with a knife, ultimately leading to his death after six hours of alleged torture.

The next morning, Allen allegedly contacted a repairman to clean the house. When the repairman discovered the crime scene, he persuaded Allen to let him go and then alerted the police. Authorities arrested Allen at his apartment.

Allen was arraigned Oct. 10 before Superior Court Judge Timothy P. Mazzei on charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder and tampering with evidence. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on November 14. If convicted on the main charge, he could face life in prison.

  • An investigation is underway after a fatal officer-involved shooting in Baltimore

Baltimore, MD – The Attorney General’s Office Independent Investigations Division (IID) is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred in Baltimore on Wednesday evening. The incident occurred on October 9, 2024 at around 8:45 p.m

An initial review of body-worn camera footage shows that a Baltimore City Police officer encountered a sedan traveling the wrong way on Pennsylvania Avenue before it crashed into a parked car in the 1500 block. The officer approached the male driver and instructed him to sit on a nearby curb, which the driver initially did. Shortly afterward, the man fled on foot, prompting the officer to chase him and call for backup.

The chase led to a wooded area near the intersection of Argyle Avenue and Pitcher Street, where the responding officer, along with two other officers, found the man. Although the man was repeatedly asked to stop and show his hands, he did not comply and displayed a firearm. The three officers then fired their weapons, fatally hitting him.

Emergency medical attention was given and an ambulance was called, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. A loaded handgun was recovered nearby. No officers were injured in the incident.

According to IID protocol, the names of the deceased and the officers involved are expected to be released within two business days, but this period may be extended. Body-worn camera footage of the incident will be released in accordance with Baltimore Police Department and IID policy.
