Man fired after threatening woman with acid attack over her choice of clothing

A business developer who threatened a man that he would throw acid in his wife’s face because of her choice of clothing has been fired from the company, sources said on Friday.

The police have also initiated investigations against Nikith Shetty.

“…please tell your wife to dress well, especially in Karnataka, otherwise I might throw acid on her face,” Shetty reportedly said in a personal message to Ansar on October 9, which immediately alerted the police and shared this screenshot.

“This is serious. @DgpKarnataka @CMofKarnataka @DKShivakumar. This person is threatening to throw acid in my wife’s face because of her choice of clothing. Please take immediate action against this person to prevent an incident,” Ansar said in an online post.

“I don’t think women are safe in this organization (the private company where Shetty worked),” he said.

Shetty’s company fired him after a netizen brought the matter to their attention.

“The man who threatened my wife @KhyatiShree_ with acid attack has lost his job. The company took immediate action and fired him. Thank you to everyone who made this possible,” Ansar wrote.
