“Margaret Qualley Exits Hulu’s Amanda Knox Drama This Is Us EP”

Amanda Knox’s high-profile wrongful murder conviction is still getting a limited run on Hulu, but Margaret Qualley won’t be playing her.

The Maid According to our sister site Deadline, the star has exited the as-yet-untitled drama based on a true story. The exit is reportedly due to scheduling issues; The role will be recast. Qualley’s casting was first announced last month.

The project will chronicle Knox’s false conviction for murdering her roommate Meredith Kircher while they were foreign students in Italy, as well as Knox’s “16-year odyssey to free herself,” according to the official logline.

The series was created by KJ Steinberg (this is us, Mistresses), who co-stars with Warren Littlefield (The Handmaid’s Tale), Monica Lewinsky, Chris Robinson, Knox and others.

Knox spent almost four years in an Italian prison before being acquitted in 2015. Her story soon made its way to the small screen: the film “The Lifetime.” Amanda Knox: Murder in Italy in court came out in 2011 and starred Nashvilleis Hayden Panettiere as Knox. In 2016, Netflix was released Amanda Knoxa documentary about their story.
