New video from July’s road rage accident on Marquette campus

MILWAUKEE – Newly obtained video from the Marquette University Police Department shows the end of a series of road rage incidents in July.

The footage shows 33-year-old Jorge Prado running a stop sign and crashing into another car at 18th Street and Wisconsin Avenue.

You can see some of the people in the other car looking towards Prado. They didn’t know that the 33-year-old was accused of two separate traffic shootings shortly before the accident. Three people were injured in both shootings.

Prado was arrested shortly after the crash.

This happened on Sunday July 14th and started just after 2:30am

The first shooting occurred at N. 2nd Street and W. Greenfield Avenue.

Rodolfo Franco, his cousin and their friend were driving west on Greenfield Avenue after going to a bar. The group told Milwaukee police that another car ran a red light there and almost hit them. They honked at the driver. Then Prado started shooting at them.

Rodolfo and his friend were injured. His cousin drove her to a hospital.

“It’s scary. I can’t even imagine sitting in that car,” Selena, Rodolfo’s sister, said in July.

MPD said just minutes later, the suspect shot another passenger on 16th Street.

Court documents showed the victim told police he was being driven home when Prado’s Nissan struck the passenger side of the car he was in. The victim said they followed the Nissan and Prado stopped his car at 101 N 16th St. He saw Prado get out of his vehicle and shoot her five or six times. The victim was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the left side of his back.

Both video surveillance and victim descriptions linked Prado’s Nissan to the other incidents. Court documents also show that 6.9mm casings and a black Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol were discovered in his car.

Prado faces three counts of first-degree negligent assault, first-degree negligently endangering safety and possession of a firearm by an out-of-state felon.

He remains in jail on a $25,000 bond.
