The person driving the stolen car eventually crashed into another car in the area of the intersection of Industrial Highway and Wanamaker Avenue in Tinicum Township, officials said.

“It’s just tragic. You hear about it on the news, but when you see it in person you realize it,” said Tinicum Township resident George Keighton. “I was leaving work around 5pm and was about to drive off when I heard this screeching and loud crash. There were probably five or six patrol cars whizzing by.”

The driver of the stolen car was killed in the accident and the other driver was taken to the hospital, police said. The other person’s condition is unknown.

After the accident, the east side of the highway was closed to traffic for hours.

SkyForce10 was over the scene of the accident around 6 p.m. on Thursday, where a lot of debris could be seen on the road at the intersection.

One vehicle was on its side and resting against a pole, while a second vehicle was parked on a side road just off Industrial Highway.

Fire engines, an ambulance and police cars could be seen nearby, cordoning off the area with yellow tape.

“I’m definitely a little shocked because it happened just a few meters from where I work. You see crazy things happen, but you never expect it to happen to you,” Keighton said.
