A fatal accident blocks traffic on Highway 169 in St. Peter

(FOX 9) – A fatal crash in St. Peter brought traffic to a standstill on Highway 169 Thursday afternoon.

What do we know?

Police responded to a collision between a Subaru and a tractor-trailer in the southbound lanes of Highway 169 on the south side of St. Peter just before 4 p.m.

According to investigators, the Subaru was traveling east on Washington Avenue South when it collided with a Peterbilt tractor-trailer that was traveling south on 169.

The southbound lanes were closed for hours while the accident was being investigated.

What don’t we know?

Police have not confirmed which driver was killed or what exactly led to the accident. The name of the Subaru driver has not been released, but police say she is a 74-year-old woman from Apple Valley.

The circumstances that led to the crash are also unclear.
