Council chambers on the eighth floor of the Kalana O Maui building in Wailuku will be closed for general election activities from Oct. 18 through the end of next month, according to an announcement from Council President Alice Lee.

Office of the County Clerk staff are tasked with ensuring the integrity of general election ballots and conducting voluntary testing of Hart InterCivic devices — a centralized election management system tasked with minimizing the opportunities for human error, Lee said.

“We encourage the public to vote and thank the county clerk’s office for their diligence in making this election process efficient and safe for Maui County voters,” said Lee, who holds the seat for the Wailuku-Waiheʻe-Waikapū Residential District. “The Council will continue its legislative duties in alternative public venues, with the option to participate in person, by video or by telephone.”
