Chicago shooting: 8-year-old boy struck by gunfire in Parkview home, CPD says; Person to be taken into custody

CHICAGO (WLS) – Chicago police said an 8-year-old boy was injured by gunfire at a home in the city’s Parkview neighborhood.

Police said they were called to a home in the 3800 block of West 87th Street around 5:50 p.m. Thursday. There they found an 8-year-old boy who had been shot in the chest.

The child was taken to Christ Hospital in good condition, Chicago police said. They have not released details about the circumstances of the shooting but said the shooter was “known.”

A weapon was recovered at the scene, police said, and a suspect was in custody. An investigation by Area One investigators is ongoing.
