One person has died and 12 people are trapped underground after an equipment failure at a Colorado gold mine Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred at the Mollie Kathleen Mine in Cripple Creek, the Teller County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. The mine did not collapse.

At least 11 people have been rescued so far and a rescue operation is still underway. Officials said there were injuries.
