Coroner identifies woman killed in stabbing in downtown Redding

REDDING, Calif. – The Shasta County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim killed in Tuesday’s unprovoked mass stabbing attack in downtown Redding.

The deceased was positively identified as Donna Kathleen Ceremony, 57, of Redding. The coroner’s office said the next people have been notified.

A deputy coroner was dispatched to Mercy Medical Center in Redding about 11 a.m. Tuesday about the victim. The person was pronounced dead at the hospital by emergency personnel.

The case remains under investigation and the suspected stabbing suspect, identified as 31-year-old Christopher Jordan Witcher, remains in custody at the Shasta County Jail.
