Shots were fired at a school bus full of students in PA, officials say

According to the Coatesville Area School District, the bus full of high school students was in the 300 block of Charles Street when a bullet pierced the windshield around 3 p.m.

No one on the bus was struck and no injuries were reported, officials confirmed.

“The students on the bus are safe, as is the driver, and police are on scene. We are extremely grateful for our driver’s calm response and the assistance of police,” district officials said.

Because of the shooting, Thursday night’s football game against Downingtown East High School was canceled.

“No child should be exposed to gunfire on a school bus. This is an active, high-priority investigation,” Coatesville City Police Chief Jack Lauffer and Chester County District Attorney Christopher L. de Barrena-Sarobe wrote in a joint statement.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Coatesville City Police at 610-384-2300.
