Coffey man charged with kidnapping and assault of a minor in Ray County

A Coffey man is facing serious charges in Ray County after he allegedly sexually abused a minor in Richmond in May.

Daniel Lee Russell, 51, was charged with first-degree kidnapping, aiding and abetting a felony, inflicting injury or terrorizing. Additionally, Russell was charged with fourth-degree assault involving a special victim. He is currently being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on October 15.

In an affidavit, Russell is accused of approaching a young girl at a concert, asking her to dance and then moving his hands up and down her body before grabbing her buttocks. He allegedly left the scene in a hurry after being confronted by a witness to the incident.

Russell is listed on the Missouri sex offender registry.
