Minimal Impact on Chairlift Completion Following Accident at Big Sky Resort

Minimal Impact on Chairlift Completion Following Accident at Big Sky Resort

After a construction accident occurred during work on the Madison 8 chairlift earlier this week, a spokesperson for Big Sky Resort released a statement saying the impact was expected to be minimal.

During the installation of elevator components, a cross arm assembly fell from a helicopter due to a rigging failure as crews attempted to position it on the chairlift tower.

There were no injuries and work resumed soon after.

Madison 8 is expected to be ready to bring skiers to the north side of the mountain in December, and Big Sky Resort is working with Doppelmayr partners to reduce any potential delays that could arise from the incident.

When completed, Madison 8 will be the longest 8-person chairlift in the world.
