Watch Hatsune Miku’s record-breaking drone show

A recent drone show in China by Hatsune Miku broke the Guinness World Record for largest display size by recreating a music video of the popular virtual idol. The show used 7,998 drones and recreated the song “Intergalactic Bound.” [Thanks, PR Times!]

The display for the Hatsune Miku drone show was 155 meters wide and 85 meters high in the sky. The show was hosted privately in China by Crypton Future Media and the song “Intergalactic Bound” was made to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Hatsune Miku Expo, which takes place in 2024 as part of a world tour. The song is a collaboration between North American Vocaloid producer CircusP and Japanese artist Yunosuke.

A 71-second short video offering a glimpse of the show is now available to watch on Crypton’s official YouTube channel PiaproTV. You can watch it here:

As part of the Expo’s 10th anniversary world tour, a figure of Hatsune Miku was announced on May 29, 2024. Additionally, a Hatsune Miku anniversary album featuring a number of theme songs from past Expos was also announced, releasing on July 31, 2024.
