Camera equipment caused Troy campus lockdown, police say

TROY, Ala. (WSFA) – The Troy University Police Department has completed its investigation Emergency shelter in order This happened last Saturday on the main campus.

TUPD Chief George Beaudry says His officers interviewed witnesses and reviewed surveillance camera footage from locations across campus. They found that what was mistaken on campus for a person with a gun was actually someone holding a camera tripod with a gimbal.

Despite the false alarm, Beaudry encourages people to always call if they see something they think could be dangerous.

“Finally, I would like to encourage everyone to always be aware of their surroundings and never hesitate to report suspicious or worrying situations,” says Beaudry. “As always, call us if you need us.”
