ANN ARBOR, MI – A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those accused of attacking a Jewish student at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor last month.

According to police, the attack occurred at 12:45 a.m. on September 15 at Hill Street and South Forest, just a few blocks from the University of Michigan campus.

Investigators said the 19-year-old student was asked by a group of men if he was Jewish.

When the student answered “yes,” the group attacked him and then ran away, police said.

Police said the student suffered minor injuries in the attack and did not need to be taken to the hospital.

The Anti-Defamation League initially offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. An anonymous donor recently doubled the reward to donate $10,000.

“There is absolutely no place for hatred or ethnic intimidation in the city of Ann Arbor,” said Ann Arbor Police Chief Andre C. Anderson. “Our department advocates against anti-Semitism and all bias-related crimes.”
