Israel-Lebanon live: The United Nations says Israeli tanks have wounded peacekeepers and denounces the “eradication” of Gaza hospitals

Israel-Lebanon live: The United Nations says Israeli tanks have wounded peacekeepers and denounces the “eradication” of Gaza hospitals

On October 7, the families of Israeli hostages march to Netanyahu’s home

The United Nations says two of its peacekeepers were injured after an Israeli tank fired on a watchtower in southern Lebanon.

UNIFL, the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon, says Israel has also “deliberately” fired on other UN peacekeeping positions, adding that “any deliberate attack on peacekeepers constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law.”

Israeli troops fired on the guard tower at the main UNIFL base in Naqoura. The organization said the injuries were “fortunately” not serious

A UN investigation has also found that Israel’s destruction of Gaza’s health system amounts to a crime against humanity of extermination.

A statement released ahead of the release of the full report accused Israel of “relentless and deliberate attacks on medical personnel and facilities,” adding that children have “been the brunt” of this crisis.

The investigation also accuses Israeli forces of intentionally killing and torturing medical personnel, targeting medical vehicles and restricting patients’ permission to leave the Gaza Strip.

Earlier today, an Israeli airstrike killed 28 people and injured 54 others at a Gaza school used as a shelter for displaced people, medics said.

According to Mikati, the US and France are leading the push for a ceasefire

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said the United States and France were trying to revive a Middle East ceasefire agreement.

“Contacts are taking place between the United States and France with the aim of reviving a ceasefire declaration for a certain period of time in order to resume the search for political solutions,” he is quoted as saying Reuters.

Lebanese militant group Hezbollah yesterday backed calls for a ceasefire and removed a ceasefire in Gaza from its ceasefire terms.

“We support (Parliament Speaker Nabih) Berri’s political efforts to achieve a ceasefire. Once the ceasefire is firmly established and diplomacy can achieve it, all other details will be discussed and decisions will be made jointly,” said Deputy Secretary-General Naim Qassem.

But Israel’s invasion of Lebanon continues, and Netanyahu called on the people of Hezbollah to expel Hezbollah if they want to avoid “the destruction and suffering that we see in Gaza.”

Ms. Thomas-Greenfield added that there should be “no demographic or territorial changes” in the Gaza Strip. The Guardian reported.

Israeli tanks violently attacked northern Gaza this week, saying they were preventing Hamas from regrouping.
