Neurotechnology adds palm biometrics to MegaMatcher crime investigation software

Neurotechnology has expanded its proprietary MegaMatcher Criminal Investigation product to include handprint biometrics as well as additional features.

Law enforcement agencies can now use the MegaMatcher Criminal Investigation for handprints in addition to fingerprints. Neurotechnology says expanding biometric data “significantly improves” the chances of accurate identification.

This is particularly felt in cases where fingerprint evidence is limited or at risk, the company explained.

The MegaMatcher Criminal Investigation solution also receives further innovations, such as functions for case management and latent pressure analysis.

“The addition of palmprint recognition to MegaMatcher Criminal Investigation will provide law enforcement agencies with a powerful tool to solve cases more effectively,” said Irmantas Naujikas, Director of Neurotechnology.

“Palmprints provide valuable additional data and significantly expand the matching options,” he added.

According to Neurotechnology, the MegaMatcher Criminal Investigation product now also includes new additional filters for its latent print enhancement tool that are intended to streamline the analysis process.

These filters have been calibrated to “extract more valuable information from challenging samples” by improving latent print data, the company says.

Vilnius, Lithuania-based Neurotechnology’s MegaMatcher product line provides biometric data management solutions for law enforcement agencies and can be used as a standalone solution or integrated with other products such as the MegaMatcher ABIS and the MegaMatcher Criminal Identity Registration System (IDRS) launched earlier this year along with the Criminal Investigation product.
