Ware man is charged with child rape

WARE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – A Ware man is facing multiple charges following a recent investigation.

Ware police arrested 38-year-old Michael Elwell on Wednesday on five counts of aggravated rape of a child, five counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, two counts of assault on a child with intent to rape, among other charges two counts of intimidating a witness and one count each of open and gross indecency and harassing and harassing another person.

Elwell was held behind bars on $7,500 bail and is scheduled to appear before a judge at Eastern Hampshire District Court in Belchertown on Thursday for arraignment.
