Chico man arrested for possession of over 600 images of child pornography

CHICO, California – Following an investigation by Chico police, a Chico man was arrested for possession of more than 600 images of child pornography.

In September, investigators received information that 33-year-old Christopher Ian Pummell was downloading child pornography at a home in the 1100 block of Woodland Avenue in Chico. Investigators confirmed the information and obtained a search warrant for Pummell’s home, vehicle and person.

On Wednesday, September 25, investigators executed the search warrant at the Woodland Avenue address and located an item belonging to Pummell that contained images and videos of child pornography.

Pummell was eventually arrested on October 9th and transported to the Chico police station. He was later taken to the Butte County Jail.

The CPD said Pummell is charged with possession of more than 600 images of child pornography, including 10 or more images depicting children under the age of 12.

“The Chico Police Department is committed to aggressively investigating and arresting individuals who commit cybercrimes against children in the City of Chico,” police wrote in their news release Thursday.
