Turkey blocks Discord over child abuse and obscenity concerns

Turkey has blocked access to U.S.-based instant messaging platform Discord Inc. after a court ruling supported allegations of child sexual abuse and obscenity, ThePrint reported, citing Reuters. The ban, announced by the country’s Information Technology and Communications Authority, comes after public outrage over the murder of two women and subsequent praise of the crime on Discord. On October 8, the Russian communications regulator also blocked Discord for violating Russian law.
