Man was sexually assaulted as a minor in Bogotá: Bergen County prosecutor

BOGOTA, NJ – A Bogota man has been charged with sexual assault for crimes against a child under 16, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Juan S. Flores-Mejia was charged last week with four counts of second-degree sexual assault and one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office said.

The prosecutor’s office said that on October 1, Bogota police contacted the Special Victims Unit of the Bergen District Prosecutor’s Office regarding the alleged sexual assault of a child under 16 years old.

An investigation found that Flores-Mejia sexually abused the minor “several times in Bogota.”

According to prosecutors, he was arrested in Paramus and taken to the Bergen County Jail where he was scheduled to make his first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.
