Bellingham School District sexual assault lawsuit dismissed

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A federal lawsuit filed against the Bellingham School District has been dismissed after both parties reached a settlement.

U.S. District Judge Kymberly Evanson ordered the case dismissed on Oct. 2, adding that the case could not be refiled.

The case was filed by a former Squalicum High School student who was sexually assaulted by another student in 2021. They alleged that three assistant principals failed to report the assaults to authorities as mandated state reporters.

Criminal charges against the administrators were dropped in Whatcom County Superior Court last December.
