Police looking for suspect after knife attack and escape in Maine

Police are searching for a male suspect after a 59-year-old man was stabbed outside the Family Dollar in Sanford Sunday night.

Man was stabbed and seriously injured

The victim was seriously injured by stab wounds in the back and left side of the body. He was taken to Maine Medical Center. Name has not been released.

Bystanders try to control bleeding

When officers arrived at the scene around 10 p.m., the victim was on his knees and people were trying to control the bleeding.

“Maybe the fight was ongoing.”

Sanford police said, “The incident may have been the result of an ongoing dispute between both parties, but it remains unclear what the dispute was about or whether a specific incident led to it.”

The suspect is described as a man with long hair, wearing a hoodie, blue jeans and a hat.
