1 dead, 1 hospitalized after crash in Elkhorn

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – One person is dead and another is in the hospital after a crash Wednesday night in Elkhorn.

The accident happened at 189th St. and West Maple Road just after 10 p.m

Omaha police told 6 News that a northbound Jeep SUV “failed to yield the right of way” to an eastbound SUV, causing the crash.

According to police, the driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene. The Jeep’s passenger, a middle-aged woman, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

OPD reports the driver of the SUV was not injured.

According to police, this is the 46th death in the Omaha metro this year.
