A two-vehicle crash on Highway 36 near Osborn results in injuries

On October 9, 2024 at 3:15 p.m., a two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 36 and Highway 33, approximately 0.5 miles north of Osborn, Missouri. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, along with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and Osborn Fire Department responded to the scene.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the accident occurred as a 2022 Chevrolet 3500, driven by 28-year-old Riley Weehler of Maloy, Iowa, was traveling south on Highway 33. Weehler was unable to yield to a westbound 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. driven by 20-year-old Gracie Connell of Easton, Missouri, on Highway 36. The Silverado struck the Chevrolet 3500, causing both vehicles to leave the roadway.

After the collision, the Chevrolet Silverado came to rest on its northbound wheels in the center line. The Chevrolet 3500, also on its wheels and facing north, came to a stop on the north side of the roadway.

Connell was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured at the time of the accident, but her passenger, 18-year-old Abigail Connell of Easton, Missouri, suffered serious injuries. She was transported by DeKalb-Clinton Ambulance to Mosaic Life Care for treatment. Weehler was also wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed from the scene by Highway 36 Auto and Diesel.
