Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley claims he was groomed and sexually abused by a former manager

Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley has claimed he was groomed and sexually abused by the band’s former manager Greig Nori.

The singer just released his new memoir, Hiking disasterwhich is described by publisher Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, as “an open and unforgettable read.”

The Los Angeles Times reports that Whibley claims in the book that Nori began sexually and verbally abusing him when he was 16 and Nori was 34.

Nori, the frontman of the Canadian punk group Treble Charger, was a “hometown hero” to Whibley, the release said.

Whibley reportedly wrote that he was 18 and drunk at a rave when Nori asked him to come to the toilet to take another shot of Ecstasy, where he grabbed his face and kissed him “passionately”.

Their relationship then became sexual, Whibley said. Although he didn’t identify as gay or bisexual, he apparently wrote that Nori tried to convince him that “so many of my rock star idols were queer…most people are bisexual, they’re just too afraid to admit it.” .”

He was used to being the new kid, starting (or breaking up) fights, and making friends who shared his flair for chaotic fun and loud things.” Music. Sum 41 grew out of a group of friends who loved jamming, shared a DIY ethos and were determined to one day become rock stars.”
