DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — A series of suspected attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels On Thursday, a vessel was targeted in the Red Sea, authorities said.

A ship in the Red Sea traveling along the coast of East Africa was first hit by a projectile that damaged the ship but did not start a fire or cause injuries, the British military’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Center said.

At least two more projectiles later fell in the waters surrounding the ship, which was some distance from Hodeida, the Houthi-controlled port from which many rebel attacks have been launched.

The rebels did not immediately take advantage of the attack. However, it may take hours or even days for them to admit their attacks.

Since the war in Gaza began in October, the Houthis have attacked more than 80 commercial vessels with missiles and drones. She seized a ship And sank two in the campaign Four sailors also died. Other missiles and drones were either intercepted by a US-led coalition in the Red Sea or failed to reach their targets, which included Western military ships.

The rebels claim they are targeting ships with ties to Israel, the US or Britain to force an end to Israel’s campaign against Hamas in Gaza. However, many of the ships attacked have little or no connection to the conflict, including some bound for Iran.
