Man injured after hang glider crashes in Porterville

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating a small hang gliding crash in Porterville.

According to TCSO, just before 6:15 p.m. Wednesday evening, officers were called to the area of ​​South Sunset and East Springville Avenue in Porterville for a plane crash.

When officers arrived, they discovered that the aircraft was actually a hand glider with a man inside.

The man suffered a leg injury and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The aircraft was described as an ultra-lite aircraft.

The pilot told TCSO he was heading back to the airport when the engine failed and he crashed.

Officials are at the scene of the crash and the FAA has been notified.
