For two weeks, Israel has been regularly instructing people in Lebanon to evacuate certain cities, villages and parts of the capital Beirut.

Sky News’ analysis of the IDF’s evacuation orders shows that the affected area now covers 432 square kilometers of Lebanon, an area larger than the Gaza Strip and home to approximately 624,000 people.

This includes 35 hectares of Beirut, where an estimated 350,000 people live. These are areas around buildings that Israel selected for destruction on the grounds that they were being used by Hezbollah.

In southern Lebanon, evacuation orders have been issued for 83 towns and villages, home to an estimated 273,000 people.

Unlike the Gaza Strip evacuations, the Israeli military has not identified the specific areas that people are expected to leave. Instead, only a number of towns and villages have been named to be evacuated.

In southeast Lebanon, three small villages still have no official evacuation notice, although residents of all surrounding villages have been ordered to relocate.
