Railways Update: Purushottam Express stalled at UP Tundla station for over three hours after bomb threat, which turns out to be a hoax – Railways News

The Puri-New Delhi-Purushottam Express was stopped for more than three hours after a bomb attack at Tundla railway station in Uttar Pradesh early Thursday, according to railway officials. Authorities were alerted to a potential threat after an X user (formerly of Twitter) pointed out that suspected terrorists were on board the train with explosives.

The train was stopped at around 2:30 a.m. and a thorough search operation was immediately launched. In all carriages, passengers were woken up in the middle of the night and their luggage was extensively checked using metal detectors and dog units.

“Every passenger and their belongings were thoroughly inspected from around 2:30 am to 6:00 am but nothing suspicious was found,” said a railway official from Prayagraj Rail Division.

The warning suggested that the suspected terrorists would plant explosives on a Delhi-Leh Air India flight, prompting authorities to act quickly. However, after hours of investigation, it was confirmed that the threat was a prank.

“We received the information from an X-Handle who claimed that suspected terrorists were carrying explosives on the train. After intensive checks, it was found to be false,” the official added.

Operations resumed after security authorities declared the train cleared. Authorities are now investigating the origin of the hoax as passengers continued their journey after the delay.
