Two were arrested in Walker County after shots were fired into a vehicle and home

WALKER COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – Two people were arrested after multiple shots were fired at a home and vehicle in Walker County.

According to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), officers responded to the 1400 block of Self Road in Oakman Township after residents reported multiple shots were fired into their vehicle and home. The family said there was also a small child in the home.

WCSO says nearly 30 shell casings were collected and after processing the scene, John Paul Rutledge III was identified as the shooter.

A search warrant was obtained for Rutledge’s apartment, which was not far from the crime scene. There, investigators found an AR-15 rifle with a 30-round magazine and ammunition that matched the ammunition used at the crime scene. Officials say the apartment has been the subject of several drug complaints.

Also in the apartment with Rutledge was Chase Worley, who authorities said had several active warrants. WCSO took both men into custody.
